The Leibniz Institute of Photonics Technology (Leibniz-IPHT) offers the following position (part time, 65%) in the Research Department Quantum Systems, Work Group Quantum Magnetometry, starting at the next possible time:
The position is initially limited to three years. An extension will be sought if suitable.
The Leibniz-IPHT is a university independent research institute with close connection to the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena and member of the Leibniz association.
Would you like to contribute to cutting-edge research topics in quantum technologies through your work? Then the Quantum Systems research department at Leibniz IPHT is the right place for you! We are researching novel quantum sensor technology based on optically pumped magnetometers (OPM), e.g. for measuring biomagnetic signals from the heart or brain, for the search for dark matter or for the magnetic prospection in archaeology. In this field of research, we are world leaders in the realization of prototypes and their demonstration in application. Your area of responsibility covers the development and test of an OPM principle for highly sensitive and fast detection of magnetic field anomalies at only a few centimetres above the Earth’s surface. We work with you at the limits of what is physically and technically feasible.
The research department is integrated into leading research networks throughout Germany and the world. In our state-of-the-art laboratories, you will work together with scientists from all over the world at the highest level and support us in sustainably transferring the new quantum technologies into real use. You will work with us at the interface of physics, mathematics, materials science and engineering.
Salary is in accordance with the regulations of the TV-L and your qualifications and experience.
We are a modern, internationally focused research institute. Work-life balance is one of our central concerns. We value diversity and therefore welcome all applications - regardless of gender, disability, nationality or ethnic and social origin.
